Curiously, in standard Myers-Briggs Type Indicator tests, I come out on the cusp between ENTP and ENTJ (I can never remember which is my preference!).

Ahh...the sweet serenity. The utter perfection of all creation. The wondrous beauty of nature. The sweet sparrow singing along in the great orchestra we call life... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? You're the type of person people always love to mock because they don't believe there's anyone ACTUALLY like you. Do realise that you ostracise people with your behaviour or is it all subconscious? You're so quiet and reserved it's almost impossible to get to know you well, and when someone finally does, all you want to talk about is grace and beauty and harmony! Ugh. Sure, you "genuinely care for others" and all that rubbish, but when it boils right down to the basics you take life far too seriously. I used to be a fairly solid ENTJ, but this is where I am at the moment (got this on another test recently, too). From this I deduce that Myers-Briggs personality constructs are not stable.

I found that - there's a lot of questions where the answer depends on my mood. I can deal easily with strangers at parties if I can be bothered . So I answered yes, because I can do it, I just don't feel obliged to do it at every party...

Yes, I absolutely agree. In that regard I'm sure the outcome is partly a function of state, rather than just trait (so again, not madly stable*).

I believe they are meant to be pretty stable, but they seem to move around a little.

I have done MBTI tests three times - four years between each. On two axes, I score very heavily at one end; for the other two, I am pretty much balanced between the two extremes, and kind of bounce around a little - there is very little in it.

I think it does also depend on what one is engaged in doing (in general), too - environment can make one prefer to behave in certain ways.

Yes, I'd definitely agree with that - my social environment has changed a lot (and more than once) since last time I was looking at these much.
