On the Beat

Last week, I made this post.

On Saturday, I was having a coffee with a friend about things we spent money on, when I heard her say, "And you must always pay taxis, even if you don't want to."

"What's wrong with taking the bus, or walking?" I replied.

But what she had actually said was "And you must always pay taxes, even if you don't want to."

Last Friday, after I had cooked a most delicious dinner of slow-cooked chicken caserole, and we had polished off most of a bottle of 2001 Rhone (extra good), my wife exclaimed: "oh, you're so handsome, you're gorgeous, and I love you very much!"

I then realised she was talking to the cat...
