When I mentioned that littlecat Talisker was in the habit of waking me at 4am, [livejournal.com profile] meaningrequired suggested I used an automatic cat feeder so that when Talisker woke up there would be food for him without his needing to wake me. This had actually been suggested by [livejournal.com profile] widgetfox months before; but I didn't have an automatic cat feeder back then.

Now I do, so for the last couple of weeks I have set the cat feeder to go off at 4am each morning. This is what happens. Either
  1. Talisker wakes up at 3.30 and wakes me, so I trigger to cat feeder for him and go back to sleep; or
  2. Talisker wakes up at 4am and wakes me up. And then follows me through to the kitchen to find the food in the cat feeder.

At no point has Talisker found the food on his own account.

I think this is just laziness on his part, and the friends I was staying with this weekend convinced me that I should just ignore him. Which is what I will do when he wakes me tomorrow morning.

Good luck with that. I've been laughing for weeks about him waking you up to switch the feeding machine on :)

I am terribly amused that we've only been married for 8 days and people are already confusing us.

Sincere apologies! It wasn't confusion. Just cock up!

...And I'll correct it when I'm on my PC rather than my phone!

Don't worry about it too much, I was more amused than anything else!

Absolutely! Mine receive very short shrift if they wake me for any reason less dire than imminent strike by meteorite.

Jane regularly wakes me at some time between 3.30 and 4 because she wants a cuddle. There's always food out.
