Following [livejournal.com profile] matgb's post the other day comes another warning that all may not be well in LJ-land, which [livejournal.com profile] fruminousb linked to.

Just in case, I have exported all my entries - you can save the files as XML or CSV (I did both!) - going for CSV is easier, since it automatically saves the files for you with the year and month reference.

Invitation to participate in research project

My name is Sarah Michele Ford; I am a sociologist who studies blogs and social networking sites. I am currently working on a research project examining how LiveJournal users reacted to the SUP layoffs that took place on January 6th and what those reactions can tell us about user loyalty to blogging and social networking sites. You are being invited to participate in this study because you posted a public entry about the layoffs to your LiveJournal (this one, in fact).

Participation in the study consists of two things. First, I will read and analyze your posting(s) about the layoffs. Then I will ask you to participate in a short (not more than half an hour) interview about LiveJournal and other social networking sites. The analysis of the blog postings and interviews will be included in a paper to be presented at an academic conference in October and will be prepared for possible publication in an academic journal thereafter.

If you are interested in participating, please go to http://tinyurl.com/LJCritical and fill out the Informed Consent form that you find there. I will then get in touch with you to schedule an interview.

If you have any questions about the project, please feel free to contact me via e-mail at ford@soc.umass.edu.

Thank you for your participation!
Sarah Ford
