There was a sign on the A8 out of Edinburgh today: "RHS Traffic Left. Except Sheep". Well, it made me laugh.

And following the rest of the flock...

Look at my LJ interests. Pick one that you find confusing or intriguing, and comment here. I’ll explain what it means and what makes it significant to me.

Then, if you want, please post this in your own LJ, if you’d be so kind, so that I can learn about your interests, too.

"But", to quote JFC Fuller, "What of the less literate sheep?"

Necessary and sufficient.

But as well as everyday needs, I am very interested in financial systems and financial markets - the way they work or don't, and how resources - money - get distributed.

You find this confusing or intriguing?

For me ballet - and more specifically modern ballet (such as Rambert or Nederland Dans Theater - who are appearing at the Edinburgh Festival again this year, yay!) - is the perfect theatre for me: a combination of music and motion.

Part of the attraction may be in the very abstract nature of the dance, the way there are no words to distract.

Cloud forest

Cloud forest is a type of rain forest which grows high in mountains - literally in the clouds - particularly on ridges, where the airstream is pushed up and causes clouds to form. Trees which would be tens of metres high lower down grow stunted - when I have seen cloud forest, the trees were only eight of so feet high - and the moisture from the clouds supports a rich epihpyte flora - so the trees are covered in mosses, ferns and orchids.

Cloud forest is fascinating (though cold); the stunted trees give the appearance of a dreamlike or fantasy forest - you expect to see goblins or elves (or hobbits...) walking thorugh it.

Oh, it is also technically called "montane rain forest".
