Busy, Busy

I have had a busy few days.

I have

  • driven south to spend a long weekend with old friends, catching up with CDs on the journey and spending some quality time behind the wheel
  • been to the ballet, which was wonderful
  • flown to London (and back)
  • spent an evening and a day learning how not to kill myself on mountains – the day being spent in blizzard conditions at 800m in the freezing cold whilst hurtling down a mountain head first on my back (ok, that’s was just part of it, but you get the picture)
  • been to a naming ceremony, something I had nothing been done before. (This is a modern christening – a secular event. I didn’t even go to my god-child’s christening – since it never actually happened. This is actually a good thing – I get to be god-parent without religion. But still, they could have had a naming ceremony.)

I want to tell you about all these things – and I shall – but I have been sufficiently busy (and knackered) to actually post much whilst this was all happening; plus when I was home, I wanted to spend the time with my wife rather than tied to the computer.

So I shall write about these things; but, in case I don’t, at least you know where I have been.

Some of them were... But the weather was disgusting, and I viewed the whole thing like buying life-insurance - something I need but I hope I will never use.

I am a fair-weather walker, although crystal blue skies are a rare thing when I am on the hills.

It is true though that after the work, we climbed to the top of Meall Connach (I haven't got the map here... one of the munros to the west of Ben Lawers) and for five minutes the clouds lifted, the sun shone and there were beautiful views. And then the clouds cames in again and it was unremittingly awful.
