Walking home from the cinema, I saw the Moon from Dean Bridge; it was large and coppery, low over Leith. I stood and watched it for several minutes, causing people walking past to stop and see what I was looking at.

I tried to take pictures of it with my little pocket camera, but – no surprise – they didn’t come out.

Undaunted, I went home, picked up my SLR and a tripod, and walked back to the bridge. Higher now, perhaps less emphatic without the roofs to accentuate its size, I tried again.

I was frustrated; I couldn’t get the Moon to look like I saw it; I couldn’t get the Moon and the rooftops.

It was still beautiful, but I was annoyed.

Still, I did take this:

Lovely!

Our Midlands moon has been large and impressive recently, but I've not seen any of the harvest colouration.

...I'm surprised you're talking to me after last night! I was listening to the radio - I only caught the second half, and I couldn't believe it when I heard Villa were 3-1 up.

Still, I am very glad for Martin Jol.

Beautiful.

...I'm just browsing back through your recent posts and wondering why I hadn't friended you back, earlier; probably I was a bit overwhelmed with my f'list for a while.

It occurs to me that you posted this nearly exactly a month after you friended me, which was two days after I posted a crescent moon, which was a week before the full Corn moon, much like your photo was almost exactly a month later for the Harvest Moon. Nice little coincidence, I think, especially since I don't think anyone I know has posted a photo of the moon in recent memory.

For my photo, I was at the house of a friend ([livejournal.com profile] the_infamous_j), with no real camera to be found aside from my generally-appreciated phone camera. It just doesn't do so well with small objects in very tricky light conditions. :)

Funnily enough, I thought you had friended me back then - I was surprised that you'd friended me again!
