Fortunately, I only saw the last ten or so. Still, a reasonable sample.

The German entry sang in English. The Serbians seemed to be signing in German.

The British were singing in Carry-On-ese. They seemed to have one member simply to drop in Sid James asides, without the humour or the wicked laugh. Still, there was a certain knowingness about it. Bucks fizz, anyone?

The Ukraine entry was by far the campest.

I thought Bulgaria and - Moldova, was it? The final entry - well, I thought they were actually rather good. So that'll be nul points there, then.

And it looks like Europe agrees with you - so far (many, many votes n) it is UK nul points. Along with Latvia!

Ha, we're the last ones on nul points now!

Though Ireland will give us points, because they always do.

You're good at this game aren't you?

As Terry said, "You canalways rely on the Irish..."!

I've played before ;)

I do feel that the Maltese must all be deaf, though, giving us 12 points!

All the Maltese I've met have a very 'British' sense of humour, lots of irony in their approach to stuff, so they probably get that 'our' entry was supposed to be funny.

Still, as usual with big events, I don't need to watch it, it fills up my friends page instead.

Interesting about the Maltese! I've never been (or, knowingly, met anyone Maltese).

Vicarious experience of cultural events is a mandatory part of LJ existence :)

My former employers at the language school also owned a school in Malta, I had fairly regular contact with my opposite numbers there, all good fun. Although my direct equivalent couldn't believe that a) I didn't smoke and b) there was no smoking in the office; she refused to believe you could deal witht he stress of the job without chain smoking.

On reflection, I think she was probably right...
