I was reading the Independent on Friday. They had a long article about Van Der Graaf Generator (that's a band, not a piece of scientific equipment), who are touring. I saw them play many times in the 1970s; and I last saw Peter Hammill play solo piano in - oh, 1993 or so. (In the Brussels Orangerie - a rather lovely setting). The idea that they are touring again seems very odd - like the last twenty five years didn't happen.

Then, on the next page, was an ad for the Only Ones. Who have reformed, and are touring in June (including Glasgow). They are another band who I saw play many many times in the late 70s and early 80s.

It just seems so weird that my past seems to be going so strong.

Saw Pete Hammill many years ago down in Bristol (where I grew up - well, sort of).

Have been hearing bits of music - mostly prog - from my formative years on 6Music's Freal Zone on Sunday evenings. Some of it's now very, very bad... but most still sounds great (Atom Heart Mother last Sunday was a treat!).

It's my theory that if you live long enough, everything comes back eventually. How else would one explain Rocky Balboa?
