One of my friends told me on Friday that she was getting married.

And then she told me that she had to go on a diet.

I wish her and her diet every happiness in their future together.

yup - totally normal behaviour. I think it's easier to focus on losing weight when you've got a goal to aim for (unless of course there's more meat on a butcher's pencil).

You then spend the rest of your life trying to get back to that weight...

Yeah ... this is probably the most-photographed any woman is going to be (and that those photos are going to be around a while ;), so I guess she wants to look good.

And why is it different for the bride? No one had ever taken more pictures of me than at my wedding; but I didn't starve myself for weeks!

Perhaps because women are judged much more on their appearance in our society than men. IMHO ;)

Heh...my best mate got married a few years back and didn't diet because she already has the perfect figure ,bitch, so when she picked up her dress after getting it fitted the waist was about and inch and a half too small. Because....wait for it....the people who alter wedding dresses assume the bride's going to starve herself before the wedding and take the dress in accordingly!

So did we...once the dress came back in time! Now, the bridesmaids dresses were another story altogether.....suffice it to say that I've never been so glad to not be a brideamaid in my life! Being an usher(ette) is a lot less stressful!
