I have had my iPod to play with for just over two days.

I am addicted.

Unfortunately, my new best friend comes attached at the hip to iYunes, which irritates the hell out of me.

So far I have got up to M on my rock/pop CDs (which means 801, to me. And Massive Attack and George Michael and ...). There is such a long way to go.

Still grumpy about iTunes...

I have just noticed my typo above - iYunes. Just think, it could almost have been the ancient Apple software - iRunes...

I'm very fond of Napster, actually, although I feel increasingly beleagured by itunes. I have a fabulous tiny Creative Muvo flash player, and then upgraded to the big behemoth, the Creative Zen, and sadly it annoys me. Not intuitive at all. I think they've fixed most of its issues now, but i still end up using the flash player more, not least because it's the size of a bic lighter.

I don't think I feel much need to download stuff - I have so much of my own I don't listen to! But were I to have bought an MP3 player rather than have one given to me, I would have gone for Creative Nano - small, and it has a radio!

I've just remembered this software which helped abrinsky recover his music library after his computer hard drive was reformatted. It might help with the love iPod/hate iTunes dilemma.

Thanks! I'll bear that in mind. The idea of losing all that music seems a bit scary...

...but obviously, other MP3 players have equivalent capability.

You might find Anapod Explorer (http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/) to be useful. It lets you deal with your iPod like any other Windows drive, including copying stuff from it back to your PC.
