too much, too soon.

rhythmaningIt is the party season. I have been to three Christmas celebrations, two work-based and one supplier. I had expected that they would yield exciting tales to regale you with. But I am not sure that I come out of those too well, so I shall keep my ruminations on Christmas parties to myself.
After the last party on Thursday, I came home slightly the worse for wear – only slightly – and sat down, playing with the cats. The way my cats show affection when I play with them is by drawing as much blood as they can; they were very affectionate on Thursday night.
(I was playing with the cats this afternoon, as well: “So you’re not just stupid when you’re drunk”, said my wife.)
I had taken Friday off; I had holiday to burn, and the prospect of being in work with a hangover didn’t impress. Instead, I spent most of Friday morning in various queues in the Post Office, buying a variety of packing materials and then posting materials – filled – down south. The cats had great fun watching me pack a box full of presents for my brother and his partner; the cats tried to help by sitting in the box as I was building it.
(My brother was meant to visit us this weekend, but he had to fly to Sri Lanka to fire someone. He is spending Christmas with his partner and her children in Washington. She works in Sudan. And I thought my life was complicated…)
My wife had Friday afternoon free as well, so we met up for lunch. This lead to the bizarre occurrence of me having lunch in the Scottish Malt Whisky Society; and not drinking any alcohol, none at all.
It is a very strange world.
