Swimming

I went swimming in my local pool today; it is an old Victorian building, with the men's changing cubicle along one side of the pool, the women's on the other.

I noticed someone in the pool. They were talking on a mobile phone.

Shall I just run that by you again? A mobile phone. In the swimming pool.

They were fairly funny. None of the teens could actually move both feet and talk so they did a weird kind of push with one foot wobble on the other while they blethered :P I have a vision of someone doing a doggy paddle with one hand in the pool trying to keep their head out of the water so they can keep chatting!

Actually, the worst I have seen is someone cycling with their mobile pressed to their ear - down Lothian Road, in traffic. Suicidal, I'd say.

Since the Olympics took on synchronised swimming nothing that happens in a swimming pool surprises me. If one can wear makeup and sequins underwater why not make phonecalls too. I can quite see Sony offering a line of waterproof mobiles.
