Jedburgh Abbey

On the road north, we turned a corner and were surprised to see the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey in the valley below us. I had rarely driven the A68 (my favourite roads south being the A697 to the east and the A701 to the west); but the sight of the abbey laid out in front of us will make me take the road again and again.

We stopped off to walk around the abbey: it was fascinating.

The A68 ... oh, that brings back memories. About 20 years ago I was regularly driven down it to go kayaking in the Borders. And then later there was some going back to look at all the ruined chapels and castles.

These pictures are lovely - the quality of light on the stone (reddish anyway) is just gorgeous. It also really captures the chilliness of the stone and the winter-like quality of it all. Fantastic; you've transported me.

"you've transported me" - praise indeed.

Thank you!
