Signatures and Drawings.
I found the drawing Quentin Blake drew for me. It wasn't where I thought it was; I thought it had been on its own sheet of paper, when in fact it was in my old autograph book. One of Blake's characters was called Patrick, and that is what he dedicated to me.
This was at the Puffin Show - probably about 1974 or so. At another Puffin Show - I worked there annually between 1974 and 1979 or 80 - I took a picture of Blake sketching on an overhead projector.
One a nearby page in my autograph book, Richard Carpenter had drawn Catweazle for me:
When I was looking through it, I came across other signatures. The second in the book was Elizabeth Taylor (she signed herself "Elisabeth Burton Taylor"); there are several I can't identify, too.
On a scrap of paper were two signatures which seemed a very bizarre juxtaposition: Kingsley Amis and Spike Milligan:
On the other side of those two were Rev W. Awdry, Mary Chipperfield (from Chipperfield's Circus), Edna O'Brien (who added as an afterthought, "love to Patrick") and Alec someone, who's last name I can't read. I think these must have been from a book festival - probably Bedford Square Book Bang, which must have been about 1972.
I think I also found the signature of Francis Bacon I wrote about earlier. It was on a programme for the Hintlesham Festival, run by the chef Robert Carrier at Hintlesham Hall in Suffolk. (Not at the French Pub; which makes sense - I couldn't think why my father would have taken me to the French Pub.) Below Carrier's signature is, I think, Francis Bacon's - although it is rather illegible.
The third signature is Ronald Blythe. These autographs were collected in 1973, at a performance by Annie Ross. (I got her signature, too; and all her band.)

Are you back in Edinburgh now? I'm sorry, I did mean to get in touch, but things are a little busy at work atm. Hope the festival is/was fab, anyway.

The jazz was excellent, in lots of different ways - I'm going to write about it sometime.
Co-incidentally, I was at the South Bank when
I am not sure if I shall be in London other the next couple of months - I expect to spend a week or two in Oxford before Christmas (which I shall probably be spending in Wiltshire), but I want to go back to the Rothko and catch a couple of other exhibitions, so I may spend a day or so in London. I'll let you know!
