It appears that the Better Together campaign - the #indyref "No" campaign - have released a new campaign broadcast. The tag #patronisingBTwoman seems very popular on Twitter.

Oh dear.

Then I was reminded of the SNP campaign broadcast for the European elections in May. It featured lots of images of children, emphasising how independence would be good for future generations. (Their view. Not mine.) It was interesting: it was the first political broadcast for the referendum I had seen.

It was only at end that I realised it wasn't a referendum broadcast but the SNP party political broadcast for the Euros. It hadn't mentioned Europe. It was all about independence. Not even independence within Europe (not something the SNP could promise, that being in the gift of the EU and subject to negotiation in the event of a Yes vote).

It seemed to me to be an abuse of the PPB system, because it was all about the referendum (aside from some writing at the end) and nothing to do with the European elections.

I haven't seen any other broadcasts - I did click on a link to #patronisingBTwoman, but decided I couldn't really be arsed.

Actually, here's a bit of context.

With less than a month to go, and the Yes campaign being more voluble and visible, I've been thinking about actually getting out and doing some campaigning for the No vote.

I HATE campaigning.

And it might just be limited to handing out leaflets at Waverley or something. (I can't imagine having a posh-voiced Englishman phone up would convince any wavering "don't knows" - at least not the way I'd want to convince them!)

I think the vote could be quite close, and I think it'll be important to get the No vote out, which is why I'm thinking about actually doing something. (Instead of passive retweeting or Facebook "liking".)

But the Better Together campaign doesn't inspire me at all.
