All change!
Jul. 3rd, 2008 08:38 pmLast weekend I asked why the Labour party leader in Scotland, Wendy Alexander, would chose now to stand down, after sticking by her guns for so many months. I had no answers.
Brian Taylor, one of BBC Scotland’s political reporters (or should that be politics reporters…?!) asked exactly the same thing. Fortunately, Brian is smarter than me and he actually posits some answers.
Not wishing to be left behind, last night Nicol Steven, the LibDem leader in Holyrood, stood down, to spend more time with his family.
Apparently - at least, according to Brian Taylor again - he really is resigning to spend more time with his family.
This means that for the time being, the only opposition party in Holyrood with a formal leader (rather than a stand-in) is the Conservatives. I give Annabel Goldie until midnight.
Resign! Resign!
