BBC TV News on Saddam Hussein
Dec. 30th, 2006 10:40 pmOthers on my f-list have commented on the execution of Saddam Hussein, so I shan't go into my views on that here.
But I am sitting watching the BBC tv news, which has been dominated by Saddam's execution.
It is an interestingly balanced report, from the perspective of a dark evening in the UK.
In particular, they have highlighted the spreading violence - John Simpson expressly saying that the killing of Saddam Hussein is unlikely halt the bombs and killing in Iraq - and also the way the west supported Saddam (mostly by selling arms) prior to the invasion of Kuwait in 1991.
