The BBC is showing a series of films and series by Stephen Poliakoff, and repeating some of his older work.
Whilst he can be very didactic and dogmatic, Poliakoff has produced some of the most challenging and rewarding TV I have seen in recent years - well, since Dennis Potter in his prime.
Shooting the Past is a truly remarkable series, tracing events at a photo library. It is a powerful piece of work which I found truly affecting - perhaps it just managed to hit the right buttons for me (not least the power of photography). It is scheduled for BBC4 on Sunday 19 February 9pm-11.50pm.
