Dum di dum di dum di dum

Front Row is talking to a classical pianist about improvising - and she is improvising to the Archers' theme!

I have often wondered what the Archers' theme tune would sound like as a jazz tune - swinging around with such a strong rhythm. (I often have these thoughts in the shower.) I think it would work rather well. I can imagine it played on a tenor, in a small, smokey room below a pub (albeit that pubs are now no smoking...).

I really must try that.

I was amused by Mark Lawson suggesting the National Anthem as a candidate for improvisation, and then helping prove how unmemorable it is by failing to remember the second line. Billy Connolly, of course, suggested that the Archers theme ought to be the National Anthem...

Radio 3 currently has what sounds like variations on 'Pop Goes the Weasel'. Seems to be rather a night for it...
