Job Ads
Like most of my colleagues, I have been scanning the job ads recently.
I saw this in the Economist (Dec 3rd 2005, page 21).
CLANDESTINE SERVICE CAREERS
The CIA’s Clandestine Service is searching for qualified applicants… Applicants should possess a high degree of integrity [and] excellent written and oral communication skills…
This made me laugh so much. Where do people go to get that qualification? Is there an MSc in Spying? (Do you get extra credit for cheating in exams?)
The entry requirements clearly stop the current incumbents of the White House from changing careers.
And the idea of advertising for clandestine roles seems surreal.
For more information and to apply, visit: www.cia.gov
Still, they won’t be interested: US citizenship is required.
