"What a great traffic system: it's so bright..."
I have a business meeting in London on 9 November, and since my brother is once more away in Sri Lanka, I am able to stay down to do a variety of things.
If anyone wants to meet up whilst I am there, that would be good. I am sure I won't see half of what is around.
I want to see:
- the private view of Jamie Primrose's show at the Scoth Malt Whisky Society on Thurs Nov 9
- James Turrell at the Loise T Blouin Institute - http://www.24hourmuseum.org.uk/london/news/ART40941.html - I LOVE James Turrell's work, and I missed his installations at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park this summer, so I really want to see this
- Leonardo da Vinci at the V&A
- Velazquez at the National Gallery
- and maybe Cezanne at the National Gallery, too.
I want to take advantage of the beginning of the London Jazz Festival to see
- the wonderful Andy Sheppard and two hundred saxophonists in Dalston, 10/11
- Anita Wardell at the Octave, Covent garden (since I have been raving about her elsewhere), 10/11
- maybe Zoe Rahman at QEH, 11/11 - since I missed her last night in Edinburgh
- or maybe Herbie Hancock at the Roundhouse, 11/11 (I can walk home from that one) - not clear if it elctro-Herbie or acoustic, bebop-Herbie
- and maybe the avant garde Mike Westbrook Art Wolf quartet at Pizza on the Park on 9/11
- or Stan Tracey/Guy Barker at Pizza on the Park on 11/11 (choices, choices)
- AND MAYBE if I stay down Sunday night - Colin Steele Quintet at QEH on 12/11 - this is free - get down there, because they are wonderful!!!
- or Mike Westbrook's Village Band on 10/11 at 5.45pm at QEH - again, this is free!!!
- and Bill Wells at 4pm on 12/11 at the QEH - wonderful, spacious music from Glasgow - and this is free, too!
