Looking up stoemp, Wikipedia says it is pureed or mashed potatoes, other root vegetables and can also include cream, bacon, herbs or spices (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoemp); I'm remembering something much more cabbagey-with-sausages. I might well be mistaken!
