A taxing issue: the Scottish Government's consultation on local income tax.

The Scottish Government (nee the Scottish Executive - its legal name) is seeking views about changing local taxation.

Tax is something that, believe it or not, I am quite interested in: the way tax is charged and collected can have a huge impact on society, business and the economy; it can change the way we do things, the way we behave, and how we spend our money.

The Booker Prize at 40: a public vote - closes 8 July

According to Late Newsnight Review, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Booker Prize, there is a public vote on six of the best Bookers of the last forty years.

Woskar and Foxtrot "Oscar and Lucinda" is one of the choices.

Go vote.

(Actually, I can't see WHERE to vote on the website. Googling "Booker 40 public vote" gives me this link And I still can't see where to vote...) According to Martha Kearney you have until 8 July - that's Tuesday.)
