Anthony Gormley

Everyone is watching Eurovision tonight.

Except me. There is a documentary about Anthony Gormley - who created "the Angel of the North", "Field" and those sculptures which are on the sand somewhere on the Lancashire coastline. Channel 4, 8pm.

You could always video it.

Actually, I will be watching Eurovision. Just after 9pm. In fact, maybe not until the results. Everyone knows the best bit is Terry sounding pisht, dissing the votes as they come in.

Airfares

I've just booked a flight.

I wanted to use points on my (in)frequent flyer card. I have many thousands of points on both BA and BMi cards.

I checked what the normal price was for my flight, and then I thought I'd see what it cost in points.

The free flight using points cost more in taxes and surcharges - that's in real £s, not points - than the ordinary flight.

So my points are more or less worthless. This makes good sense from the airlines point of view, obviously. But it pisses me off greatly!

Eurovision

Fortunately, I only saw the last ten or so. Still, a reasonable sample.

The German entry sang in English. The Serbians seemed to be signing in German.

The British were singing in Carry-On-ese. They seemed to have one member simply to drop in Sid James asides, without the humour or the wicked laugh. Still, there was a certain knowingness about it. Bucks fizz, anyone?

The Ukraine entry was by far the campest.

I thought Bulgaria and - Moldova, was it? The final entry - well, I thought they were actually rather good. So that'll be nul points there, then.
