Buy England ... Get One Free!

Graffiti on the wall of the City Art Centre, Edinburgh. Presumably the writer didn't have a true belief in his convictions, since it was only written in chalk. Or maybe he thought his argument would be so persuassive that it wouldn't need anything more permanent!

Very good.

Reminds me of the time when, as a students, we were sitting in the coffee lounge at the Oriental Institute* on the table of which were several Free Tibet flyers and the coffee lady came round to clear cups and asked "Oooh, a free tibet (pron. tibbett), what's of those then?'

*A mighty fine place, it served hot Ribena.

And that reminds me of an old gag by Dennis Pennis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Pennis) (aka Paul Kaye) who did spoof interviews. He saw Richard Gere on a red carpet, went up to him and said, "I hear you like Tibet."

"Yes," replied Gere.

"Do you have any tips for the 2.30 at Newmarket?" asked Pennis.

Gere hadn't a clue what was going on...
