Although I can hear some of it on last.fm (http://www.last.fm/music/Einojuhani+Rautavaara/_/Melankolia+%28Melancholy%29?autostart). It does sound rather lovely. And the CD is by the SNO on Naxos.
Incidentally, the new(ish) record by Maria Schneider (http://www.mariaschneider.com/) uses birdsong too - in the title track "Blue Sky". And the tune "Rich's Piece" is lovely - if you click on the "radio" option, you can hear it. Strongly recommended if you like modern big band Gil Evans-esque arrangements.
